In Québec, family-type and intermediate residential settings — family-type residences (RTF), intermediate resources (RI) and intermediate host-home resources (RIMA) — house vulnerable people: seniors, people with disabilities or living with a mental-health condition. To keep residents safe, these settings must rely on staff trained in first aid and CPR.

Family-type residence (RTF), intermediate resource (RI) and intermediate host-home resource (RIMA), governed by the Act respecting health services and social services (LSSSS).
急救要求
These settings must meet first-aid standards aimed at a rapid emergency response: staff trained in first aid and CPR, able to act with adults, children and infants and to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). The exact requirements vary by resource type and by the residents served.
A recognized, up-to-date first-aid certificate is the way to meet these standards; it is in addition to the staff's training and must be renewed periodically.
